July 2026 CAE Meeting Preview

Our July meeting is pushed back a week this year, to July 17th @ 12pm ET / 9am PT. We will be talking knowledge management. How do you and your colleagues capture and share information?

This is a discussion call. No presenters. We'll self-select into two groups:

  • One focused on technical artifacts (git repositories, packaging, componentizing code)
  • One focused on general knowledge practices (SOPs, documentation, workflows)

We're gathering ideas and discussion prompts for each breakout room. Join the discussion in our Slack to share your thoughts and suggestions. Note: if your city's domain name needs to be added to the allowlist for Slack, ping Sam.

Next week we'll be demoing + reacting to AI in practice.

We'll have a few presenters give an informal talk about how they're using AI. Each will be followed by Q&A / discussion.

Presenters will cover whatever they want from this list:

  • Applications of AI in local government: how are you now applying / do you plan to apply AI to improve services?
  • What data + privileges do you give to an LLM (and what's don't you)?
  • How do you mitigate risk?
  • Lessons learned : what’s worked, what hasn’t, what’s been surprising
  • What do you envision next?
